We’re delighted to reveal even more bands have been added to this year’s lineup.

Joining IDLES, Slowdive, Fever Ray, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Yo La Tengo, Sleater-Kinney and Lankum in the gardens will be legendary Sheffield singer-songwriter Richard Hawley, psych-folk-rock supergroup Altin Gün, eclectic rapper and half of Armand Hammer billy woods, Stereolab’s effortlessly cool frontwoman Lætitia Sadier, Brighton based anarchic punk trio Lambrini Girls, and many more.

As ever, there is always so much to explore across the lineup. 

For those craving raw power and social critique, Lambrini Girls will deliver with their anarchic punk anthems and biting tongue-in-cheek words. Heralded by Iggy Pop as his “favourite new band,” Lambrini Girls are quickly rising to iconic status with their explosive live sets and thunderous punk sound.

Gustaf will take you on a wild ride with their infectious grooves and cut-and-paste lyrics; LA-based Sextile will ignite the dance floor with their pulsating crash of post-punk and industrial electronic music whilst Senyawa, the Indonesian experimental duo, offer a mesmerizing blend of folkloric moods and industrial sounds 

From MC Yallah & Debmaster‘s fiercely futuristic hip-hop to Yu Su‘s transformative DJ sets; Senyawa‘s bone-shakingly powerful experimental rock to Chanel Beads‘ esoteric musical journey, you’re in for a treat.

Seems like only yesterday we were celebrating in a field together at End of the Road 2023. With our heads still spinning after another year of 5-star reviews and hazy recollections of festival antics, the time has arrived once again, to divulge our secrets. Say hello to End of The Road 2024’s lineup.

After many letters exchanged between festival co-founder Simon Taffe and Bonnie “Prince” Billy, the cult favourite will be kicking things off as our Thursday night Woods Stage headliner for his first-ever Larmer Tree appearance and UK festival exclusive. Grammy award-winning composer and producer Fever Ray will bring their transcending Kaleidoscopic Electronic exclusively to End of The Road; post-punk royalty, IDLES will bring their raw punchy sound to the Woods, whilst Slowdive’s alluring shoegaze is sure to make this year’s festival a one of a kind weekend. Baxter Dury will also be making a much-anticipated return to Larmer Tree after 5 years!

The groundbreaking and Mercury Prize-nominated Jockstrap will, no doubt, leave us in awe once again, whilst riot grrl legends Sleater-Kinney will ignite the weekend with their signature powerful lyrics and jagged melodies. Also on this year’s lineup is Ty Segall who will be performing a solo acoustic set just off the back of his new album Three Bells.

End of the Road veterans Yo La Tengo first played here in 2007 and have since released a staggering ten albums, their most recent being described by Pitchfork as “a mighty shoegaze wonder.” 

As always, we have a strong selection of progressive, folk-leaning songwriters on this year’s bill with the likes of story-teller Lisa O’Neill and folk-pop artist Tori Zietsch under the moniker Maple Glider, whose music perfectly balances hard-hitting subjects and whimsical hooks.

You may have already seen Samantha Morton on the big screen, but she’s recently collaborated with pioneering producer Richard Russell in an intriguing new project under the name Sam Morton. Mixing spoken word and part-autobiographical lyricism with intimate vocals, lo-fi beats and a sparse Eno-esque ambience, their highly-anticipated debut album is to be released later this year. 

There’s plenty of electronic music on offer too; from John Talabot’s euphoric house music directly from Catalunya to Casisdead’s Gritty storytelling; Debby Friday is an award-winning act that must be witnessed and rising Artist Lip Critic’s infectious hip-hop art-punk will be the surge of energy you never knew you needed.

We didn’t forget about you experimental explorers: Presenting a contemporary take on Saharan music MDOU MOCTAR’s concoction of Tuareg blues will be gracing our fields alongside, Shibuya-kei pioneer and multi-instrumentalist Cornelius, as well as Nustantara’s Beat innovative take on Indonesian Folk. 

Post-punk fans won’t be left wanting either: Snõõper will be bringing their avant synchromatic buzz to Larmer Tree Gardens and, after recently supporting our headliners Slowdive, resh Irish band Gurriers are sure to be a highlight.

There’s a heavy country and alt-country presence with Irish country-pop auteur CMAT, folk Americana from the Alabama-born Phosphorescent, Julianna Riolino’s captivating melodies and heartfelt lyrics, Kassi Valazza, Jess Williamson and more. Plus Curtis Hardin, Jalen Ngonda and MRCY will bring just that extra little bit of soul to the gardens.

We are now accepting applications for our annual Play EOTR competition, in which we handpick and invite our favourite new artists to play at End Of The Road.

The competition is open for everybody, and entries will be eligible for seven weeks from 6th December to 28th January. The successful applicants will be offered the chance to perform at the stunning Larmer Tree Gardens festival site. Winners will be notified in mid-March.

This year, the selected artists will open one of the Major Stages plus one will film a session with The Line of Best Fit. If you are chosen as the act to open one of the Major Stages you will still be eligible for The Line of Best Fit feature, (and vice versa) – the two opportunities aren’t mutually exclusive but they won’t necessarily go to the same act.

We’ve got four brand new additions to our Comedy lineup in the form of Bridget Christie, Jake Lambert, Felicity Ward and Tom Bell. The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that Lunge and Jessica Winter have joined our bill, too. Unfortunately, Wunderhorse and MC Yallah & Debmaster won’t be joining us this year.

Plus, BODEGA will now be playing the Woods Stage. As usual, you’ll be able to find the official clash-finder in our festival programme, available on-site from friendly roaming stewards, at one of our programme kiosks or at the Merch Tent.

This year, as usual, it will be a handy fold-out insert so you can keep your programme in a pristine state and cherish it for years to come. It will also be accompanied by more detailed information on comedy, literature, workshops and extra activities timings.

With just over 3 months to go until the summer’s last great party, we are very excited to reveal the 2023 Day Splits along with extra additions to this year’s lineup including Bodega, Crack Cloud, Oracle Sisters and more. Plus, the Tipi stage has a brand-new name – say hi to The Folly. 

Alt-rock indie kings Wilco and dystopian art punks HMLTD will kick things off on Thursday, whilst psych wizards Unknown Mortal Orchestra take the billing reins on Friday. They top a faultless supporting cast including Greentea Peng, Cass McCombs, Panda Bear & Sonic Boom and KOKOKO! as well as Garden headliner Angel Olsen, The Guardian’s One to Watch yeule and new addition Bodega.

Saturday is topped by synth-pop powerhouse Future Islands… Arooj Aftab, Crack Cloud and Samia grace the Garden Stage, whilst electronic legends Overmono bring their classic club-ready sound to the Big Top. Down at The Folly, runnner, High Vis and Lime Garden will warm up the stage for your usual high energy late night Surprise Shows.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will bring the Woods Stage to a close on Sunday, with strong support from Fatoumata Diawara and Lee Fields, and the Big Top is closed by Dublin post-punks The Murder Capital. In the Garden, we welcome the return of Ezra Furman and Caitlin Rose, plus End of Road’s debut for laid-back Cali band Allah-Las. 

The Boat is back for its second year with live music including Dungen, MC Yallah & Debmaster and Macie Stewart, as well as your usual DJ sets.

The Talking Heads is the place to be for comedy, literary talks and more stripped-back spellbinding live music.

Another meticulously curated cinematic experience awaits. We are thrilled to share with you our Cinema lineup for End of The Road 2023.

On Friday, we have the pleasure to have cinema streaming specialist MUBI, bringing The Mubi Screen to Larmer Tree Gardens for the first time.

Saturday’s selection of films comes from award-winning playwright and filmmaker Martin McDonagh. Martin has produced plays on both Broadway and The West End, including The Beauty Queen of Leeane, The Pillowman and Hangmen. He’s also revered as a filmmaker, well known for his dark comedy favourites In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths and The Banshees of Insherin as well as Golden Globe winning and Academy Award-nominated Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri.  

Director, editor, screenwriter and producer Mark Jenkin has curated Sunday’s listings. In 2020, Jenkin was recognised as a Cornish Bard for his work in promoting Cornwall’s heritage, he wrote, directed and edited the Cornwall-set film Bait, as well as the 2022 experimental folk horror film Enys Men, which you’ll be able to watch in the Big Top alongside a live score played by Jenkin himself and The Cornish Sound Unit.

Meanwhile, Thursday night is in the capable hands of festival curator Simon Taffe.

We’re delighted to reveal our Comedy + Literature lineup for End of The Road 2023! Grab a beer and head down to the Talking Heads stage to enjoy performances and talks from some of the most exciting comedians, authors, artists and broadcasters.

First up and headlining 2023’s comedy programme will be Taskmaster champion Lou Sanders, bringing her own brand of no-filter comedy; and Sara Pascoe who’ll deliver big laughs with an emotional edge by exploring the pros and cons of celebrity and her own personal journey with motherhood. Taskmaster fans can further rejoice as previous champion Sophie Duker will deliver her sharp, strange and wickedly funny observations in her at-ease persona, as well as Alan Partridge nemesis and Ghosts star Lolly Adefope performing her expertly observed, character-driven routine. The Infinite Monkey Cage host and award-winning standup Robin Ince will share his joyful enthusiasm for the world we live in. 

Engaging and blistering commentary can be expected from Australian Tom Ballard, whilst fellow Aussie Steen Raskopoulos takes us through his much-loved solo sketch characters sprinkled with crowd-influenced spontaneity. Inimitable Texan-native Kemah Bob will deliver her joyous raillery, using entertainment as a tool for enlightenment and empowerment, and Esther Manito takes the subjects of motherhood, identity, and racial stereotyping head-on. Russell Hicks will bring his rockstar energy and razor-sharp wit, whilst the warm, commanding and extremely funny personal experiences of Thanyia Moore will light up the stage.

Rob Auton promises his unique intertwining of comedy, theatre, poetry and spoken word whilst alt-comedian and satirist Simon Munnery will deliver his surrealist anecdotes. Australian raconteur Sarah Bennetto will enthral with her side-splitting and endearing storytelling and Eric Ruston brings his self-deprecating but utterly lovable stage persona to the festival.

As morning breaks in Larmer Tree Gardens, the exquisite literature programming will reinvigorate your tired mind, with talks from some of the most exciting authors the UK has to offer. At the top of the literature bill is conceptual, video and installation Turner Prize winning artist Jeremy Deller, who after confounding the art world for 30 years, will talk through his new book ‘Art Is Magic’. Lush and Piroshka icon Miki Berenyi will take us through her debut book and rock memoir ‘Fingers Crossed’, telling her story of an extraordinary and complicated musical life.

UK music journalist and writer Emma Warren will explore her new book ‘Dance Your Way Home’ in front of a live audience, taking us from kitchens to clubs, and telling the story of the human desire to dance. Novelist Tom Bullough will talk us through being arrested, the climate crisis and the history and myth of his Native Wales. Harriet Gibsone shares a funny, raw and painfully honest account of trying to find connection online from her debut book ‘Is This OK?, whilst Kieran Yates gives a fresh and fiery account of the housing crisis from ‘All The Houses I’ve Ever Lived In’.

The winners of this year’s Play End Of The Road competition have been revealed. We’re talking three incredible new bands that were hand-picked from a list of thousands of hopeful applicants and have won a spot on our 2020 bill.

Jangly indie-rock from Jessica’s Brother, a psychedelic wonderland from Meadow Meadow and Motorik-punkers Beige Banquet will join us at this year’s festival.
