Timber Timbre is a Canadian folk rock band, whose sole core member is singer-songwriter Taylor Kirk. His stage name is a play on the sound of his beat-up guitar (timbre) and the noise his father would yell (timber) when trees crashed on the farm where he was raised, an hour north of Brooklin, Ontario.
Kirk released two albums independently before releasing a self-titled album on Out of this Spark in January 2009. He subsequently signed to Arts & Crafts, who re-released the album on June 30 in Canada and July 28 internationally. The album was named as a longlist nominee for the 2009 Polaris Music Prize on June 15, 2009, and was deemed album of the year by Eye Weekly.

Timber Timbre have recently announced details of the follow-up to their 2010 self-titled debut album, and the new album 'Creep On Creepin’ On' will be released in April 2011 through Full Time Hobby.
“The idea is to make music we love and therefore embrace the risk of sounding like all the music we’ve ever loved, all at once,” Kirk explains.
'Creep On Creepin’ On' marks a significant musical move forward from the band’s Polaris Music Prize long listed Timber Timbre. From guttural groans on lead track “Bad Ritual” to the eerie doo-wop-inspired pleas of “Lonesome Hunter”, the album is textured and commanding, stirring proof of the unwavering powers of obsession and possession.
