“When a new band comes along and they sound that good you say "I'm not sure how much I trust them!" but they really are that good!” - Mark Lamarr: Radio 2
Singer, songwriter and self styled wayward preacher Cyrus Gabrysch is a real misfit in the recent swell of alternative folk music embracing the music scene in the UK. After a long stretch working as a classical pianist in Utah, and New York City, he recently moved to London to record his acclaimed debut album and form the ‘Zizaniques’.
The combination of his melodic, gravel-pitted vocals with the songwriting influences of the likes of Jacques Brel, Boby La Pointe, John Martyn, Ray Charles, Howlin' Wolf, and The Pogues has created an eccentric and idiosyncratic genre of its own, augmented by his very talented international backing band ‘The Zizaniques’
After recently being featured in full session on the BBC Radio 2 Mark Lamarr show they have taken up residency at the hip shakingly Brazilian ‘Favela Chic’ in Shoreditch, and this summer will be playing the 'Love Box' festival in Victoria Park, as well as the celebrated 'End of the Road' Festival in Dorset. It’s impossible that you’ve ever heard a band spelt like this before.
‘Expect the unexpected, unholy and unhinged. Amen ’
